DIY Tips: Hemming Your Jeans

Women’s jeans have become an indispensable part of your wardrobe. Besides that, achieving the right pant length isn’t always easy considering that many of today’s denim jeans have notoriously long legs. If you found the perfect pair of women’s jeans but the legs are too long, you can take them to a tailor (and pay a small fortune) or you can hem jeans yourself – and keep the blue jean’s original hem!

Luckily, hemming blue jeans doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. In fact, you can hem your favorite pair of clothing jeans in time to head out on the town tonight just by following these simple steps:

1. Put on the blue jeans, along with the shoes you will wear with them. As a general rule of thumb, you should aim for a pant length that falls in the middle of your heel.

4. Mark the desired length with a piece of chalk.

5. Fold the cloth in at the 1.5 in mark you made, and then fold it again.

6. Using a sewing machine and some sturdy, denim thread, stitch the hem. Make sure to sew as close to the original hem as possible.

9. Iron the pant leg’s hem to finish.

After following these nine simple steps, you should feel proud of your new-found seamstress skills. Now you can hem your jeans and your family’s
