Methodical Madness

It’s the same routine every morning: you frantically dig through your closet looking for the blouse that goes with your skirt or the other black heel that goes perfectly with your outfit. You waste precious time trying to find these items and it creates stress that puts your whole day off to a bad start.
Enough with the madness! It’s time to declutter your life and make your closet as organized as possible. Having and organized closet will cut a lot of time off your morning routine – time you can spend perfecting your hair and makeup or just relaxing with a cup of coffee before the start of the work day.
You may think it’s impossible to organize your closet. It’s stuffed with clothes, shoes and accessories. It’s definitely possible, you just have to make the time. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to a clean closet in no time.
1. Take everything out of your closet – but do it in steps. First, start with the shoes. Determine which you wear and which you don’t. Consider donating the ones you don’t wear to a shelter or secondhand store. Repeat the process with your clothes and accessories.
2. Organize items into categories. This will make finding items a breeze. You can design the system that works best for you – maybe it’s all professional clothing together and all casual clothing together. Or, maybe you organize by color. Whatever you decide, make it work for you.
3. Use a closet organizer. Many companies now make amazing closet organizers that allow you to maximize your space by creatively storing your clothes, shoes and accessories. Check out products make by California Closets, The Container Store and IKEA – Each store has tons of organizers that will make your closet organizing easier.
