Resurrect: The 20’s

Have you ever heard the phrase "everything that is old is new again?" This is especially true when it comes to fashion. Vintage fashion is constantly en vogue on the runways: designers introduce new fashions inspired by bygone eras and the clothes quickly find the way to fashion-conscious women around the world.

One vintage fashion era that is consistently popular is the 'Roarin' 20's.' The 1920’s were a time for experimentation and women were the first to push the boundaries. Women wanted to look sexy, so the hemlines started to rise. They loved to dance and look beautiful, so bland fabrics and colors were banished from fashion and their place were shinier fabrics and art deco style.

Today, wearing vintage fashions from the 20's is easy. All you need are a couple of key outfits that will make you look like you just stepped out of a 1920's dance party. The first key piece you’ll need is a flapper dress. Flapper dresses are what people associate with the decade and consist of a slip dress with an overdress adorned with flashy materials like beads, lace, chiffon or sequins. The hemlines are short, but if you feel like you can’t wear a mini dress then you can have it made with a longer hemline.

The other key piece you need is a chemise. This art deco-inspired dress is a simple, tubular shape with a drop-waist. A chemise is more appropriate for everyday wear. It can be worn everywhere from the office to a picnic in the park. Add a long string of pearls and you’ll be comfortable and look feminine without being overtly sexy.

Let fashion be fun again. Work these 1920’s outfits into your style and show the world how you’re on the cutting edge of what’s hot.
