There is one thing most women can agree on: we love our jeans!
But does the idea of washing them leave you feeling more than a bit nervous? Will your favorite jeans shrink? Will they lose their color? Will they become misshapen or stretched out? Will your favorite jeans simply be thrown into the pile with all of your other cast-off jeans that no longer fit like they once did?
Luckily, there are ways to launder your favorite denim jeans without fear of ruining them!
1. Unless your denim jeans have noticeable stains, it is not necessary to wash them after each wear. Repeated washing of your blue jeans will only break down the denim fibers and cause them to quickly wear out.
2. When you must launder your blue jeans, turn them inside out and wash them only in cold water on the machine’s delicate cycle. Avoid running your denim jeans through any cycle that will agitate them too much.
3. If you have the time, wash your blue jeans in the sink, using a mild detergent and cold water.
4.If the care label on your denim jeans recommends machine drying, remember to use the warm – not hot – setting and remove them promptly when the cycle has ended.
5. Remember that the heat of a dryer can prematurely wear your favorite blue jeans. Therefore, to avoid breaking down the fibers in your denim jeans, opt to hang them to dry.
6. Gently stretch the inseam of your clothing jeans while they are still damp to ensure that the fit will remain comfortable and not too snug.
7. If you purchase a pair of unwashed women’s jeans, gently hand wash them before wearing to reduce the likelihood of the dark dye from rubbing off onto your body and clothing.
Follow these tips and your jeans will last you a lifetime (or pretty close to it).
